Overview
Applying to a Punjab public medical college happens through the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore, after you qualify in MDCAT. UHS ran the Punjab MDCAT on 20 September 2026 and announced results on 24 September. As of 12 October 2026, the sources we checked had not yet shown the admission prospectus, application dates or merit list dates, so the steps below describe the usual process, not confirmed dates.
Who can apply
Eligibility conditions in the prospectus normally cover the following. Verify each against the new prospectus.
- A qualifying MDCAT score: 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS in the 2026 cycle.
- FSc Pre-Medical or an equivalent with the required percentage. PMDC’s official admissions FAQ specifies at least 60% HSSC or equivalent, or a higher percentage if notified. Check the current prospectus and required subjects.
- Punjab domicile for provincial seats. Seats open to other domiciles are limited.
- Age and nationality conditions as written in the prospectus.
Open merit and other seat types
Punjab public colleges fill most seats on open merit, based on the aggregate. Other categories can include reciprocal seats for candidates from other provinces and regions, self-finance seats, and seats reserved for special categories. The number of seats per college and category is published in the prospectus.
The usual process, step by step
- Qualify in MDCAT and keep your score card.
- Wait for the UHS prospectus and the online admission portal to open.
- Register on the portal and fill in your academic details accurately, including Matric and FSc marks, domicile and category.
- Upload documents. admission documents checklist gives a full checklist.
- Submit your college preferences in the order you actually want them. The order matters for allocation.
- Pay the application processing fee and download the challan or confirmation.
- Check the provisional merit list and apply for corrections within the short objection window.
- See the final merit list, then the college-wise selection lists in rounds.
- Pay the admission fee and report to your allotted college with originals before the deadline.
How merit is calculated
The aggregate is 10% Matric, 40% FSc and 50% MDCAT. Full details and examples are in our aggregate post. A tied aggregate is usually broken by a rule in the prospectus, such as higher MDCAT marks first, so read the tie-break clause.
Merit list stages explained
| Stage | What it means | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Provisional merit list | First ranking from submitted data | Check for errors and request corrections |
| Final merit list | Corrected ranking | Confirm your rank |
| Selection list, round 1 | Candidates allocated to colleges | Confirm and pay fees on time |
| Later rounds | Seats vacated by non-reporting candidates | Stay in the pool if you want an upgrade |
Mistakes that cost seats
- Entering wrong marks, which can lead to cancellation later.
- Choosing too few colleges, which leaves you without a seat even if your merit was fine.
- Missing the seat confirmation window. Some sources mention windows of only five to seven days.
- Not holding original documents on report day.
Safety tips
- Use only the official UHS website for applications and payments.
- Do not pay anyone for a guaranteed seat.
- Keep copies of every challan, upload and confirmation message.
