MDCAT Physics Numericals with Solutions 2026 (g = 10)
These are not a random drill pack. They are the numericals the sixteen unit quizzes actually use, worked on paper with , so the live lab is a confirmation instead of a hint.

Every gravity numerical on Physics Lab takes If you insist on 9.8 you will miss options that were written for ten. Write at the top of the page before the first projectile.
Mechanics numericals
Vectors, motion, energy, rotation — the 3–4–5, the missing ½, the lift.
Two forces of and act at right angles. Find the magnitude of the resultant.
- is the parallel sum. is the anti-parallel difference. Neither applies.
— a 3–4–5 triangle. If you wrote , you added magnitudes as scalars.
A car starts from rest and accelerates uniformly at ² for . Distance covered?
- , so + ½ .
- at² without the ½ is . at is , a change in speed, not a distance.
. If your option was , you dropped the half.
m/s, m/s². Horizontal range on level ground?
- sin2 / g. At
- — the maximum range on level ground.
. Complementary angles share range; is the peak.
A student stands on a scale in a lift accelerating upward at ². Scale reading?
- is true weight ( is m(g − a), the down case.
. Apparent weight rises when the lift accelerates up.
A force displaces a body at to the force. Work done?
- is Fs with the angle forgotten. used sin instead of cos.
. Only the component of F along s does work.
Fluids, waves, fields
Continuity squares the radius. RC is 0.37, not empty.
Water in a pipe of radius flows at . The pipe narrows to . Speed in the throat?
. Half the radius is a quarter the area, four times the speed.
kg on N/m. Period? Does doubling amplitude change T?
- Amplitude does not appear. Double A, T stays.
s, independent of amplitude (ideal SHM).
A capacitor charged to discharges through R. Charge at
- 0.63 is how much has left (or how much a charging capacitor has gained).
About 37% remains. One time constant is not ‘empty’.
A cell V, . Load for maximum power, and that power?
Match R to r. in the load; an equal is wasted in r.
Modern tail: diodes, photons, lines, nuclei
Vm/ versus 2Vm/ . Three half-lives leave 1/8.
Same peak Vm. Compare for half-wave and full-wave.
- Half-wave: = Vm/ .
- Full-wave: = 2Vm/ — twice the humps, twice the average.
- is f versus 2f. That is a separate item.
Full-wave has the higher DC output and double the ripple frequency.
A photon of . Energy in eV? Use hc ≈ ·nm.
- An photon is — half the energy, twice the wavelength.
. Shorter , larger E. Brightness does not enter.
Wavelength of the 3 → 2 jump in hydrogen?
- That is H- , Balmer, visible red.
. 2→1 is Lyman- at , UV, not visible.
A sample has = 2 h. Fraction remaining after 6 h?
- = 3 half-lives.
- 1/3 is the trap that treats half-life as a third.
1/8 remains. Activity is also 1/8 of the original, same clock.
Practise the same numbers as MCQs
Each worked item above is a question in the matching unit quiz, with three wrong options built from the same numbers. Lock first. If your paper working and the lab disagree, the note will name the mix-up.
FAQ
Common questions
How large is the current MDCAT Physics practice bank?
DIFF. currently has 12,278 Physics practice MCQs across 16 chapters. The separate Physics Labs collection contains 640 questions with interactive simulations. Practice-bank counts and simulation counts are separate; not every practice MCQ has a unique lab.
Can I choose my own Physics topics and test length?
Yes. Open any Physics chapter, choose the topics you want to revise, and set a test length up to 180 questions or the selected-topic total, whichever is smaller. Use a small focused drill for a weak concept and a longer timed drill to practise pacing. Chapters can be opened in any order.
Are Physics tests timed, and when can I see answers?
Choose Tutor Mode for explanations after each selection or Timed Exam for a countdown and explanations after submission. Submit Quiz opens the confirmation screen; Submit & View Explanations opens the complete review. You can use the paper map to revisit unanswered or flagged questions before submitting.
How should I combine formula sheets, notes and MCQs?
Read the relevant chapter notes first, then write the formula with its conditions and units. Solve a short drill without looking at the sheet, review mistakes, and check whether the error came from the concept, unit conversion or arithmetic. Return to a timed drill after you can explain why the correct option works.
Should I always use in Physics numericals?
Use the value of gravitational acceleration specified in the question. Some worked examples in these guides use m/s² for simpler arithmetic; a question that gives ² must be solved with 9.8. Keep units consistent and avoid rounding intermediate calculations unnecessarily.
Can I save the complete Physics quiz review?
Yes. Submit the test to open its review, then choose Download PDF or Download Review. The saved review contains the questions from that attempt, answer choices, your answers, available correct keys and explanations. Keep it as an error log and revisit the topics you missed.
