Overview

To qualify for MBBS in the 2026 cycle you needed 55% in MDCAT, which is 99 out of 180 marks. For BDS the minimum is 50%, or 90 out of 180. These are the qualifying thresholds reported for the 20 September 2026 test. Confirm the current prospectus before applying; a qualifying score is not a seat offer.

Is there negative marking?

No. A wrong answer costs you nothing, so never leave a question blank. If you are down to the last ten minutes, guess the remaining ones.

How the pass percentage works in practice

The minimum is only an eligibility gate. In Punjab, 79.43% of those who appeared met the MBBS cut-off and 85.22% met the BDS cut-off. Passing therefore says very little about getting a seat, because competitive public colleges closed above 93% aggregate in 2025.

Subject split

The PMDC 180-question pattern used by DIFF. allocates 81 Biology, 45 Chemistry, 36 Physics, 9 English and 9 Logical Reasoning questions. Confirm the latest PMDC specification before a future test.

Score bands and what they roughly mean

A score band alone cannot predict admission. These are percentage conversions, not claims that a score secures a particular seat.

Conflicting figures online

Some websites list 65% for MBBS and 55% for BDS, or a pass mark of 130 out of 200. Those do not match the reported 2026 pattern of 180 MCQs. Always check the official prospectus of the university you plan to apply to.

Exam-day rules students keep missing

  • Reach the centre early. PMDC advised reporting between 6:30 and 7:00 AM for the earlier schedule, so follow what your admit card says.
  • Bring your admit card and original CNIC or B-form.
  • Use only the permitted pen and avoid marking errors on the answer sheet, since the sheet is machine-read.
